  • What inspired you to start your business?

Ever since we were little girls, we would always say we were going to open a clothing boutique together. Once we grew up, we never talked about it until one day when Nour texted Maryam and said that we should start an online clothing boutique, and the rest was history.

  • How did you come up with your name and logo?

The name of our company is actually both of our last names combined. Nour’s last name is Kaddoura, and Maryam’s last name is Issa, and that is how we came up with Kadisa. Our logo is the name of our business with an eye attached to the letter ‘K.’ We wanted something that somewhat represented our Middle Eastern heritage and loved the look of an Egyptian-inspired eye.

  • How do you advertise?

Most of our advertising is done through social media and word of mouth. However, we are always looking for new ways to get our name out there!

  • Best-selling products or services?

Our best-selling products are our jackets; Our Lina jacket is a super chic denim jacket with pearl embellishments. We also have a corduroy puffer jacket that is another top seller.

  • What’s your company’s goal?

Our goal is to one day expand into having an actual storefront and to be able to support our families, who have been so loving and supportive since day one.

  • What makes your business unique?

What makes our business different from others is that we focus on the quality of our pieces. Growing up, we didn’t like buying clothes that felt cheap, so we want our customers to know that they will always get the best quality when shopping with us.

  • Have you ever turned down a client? Why? How did it end? What did you learn?

When we launched our first-ever collection, we were still getting the hang of things and had a mixup with our inventory. A customer ordered a dress that we no longer had in stock. We immediately contacted the customer, apologized for the inconvenience, and offered a discount on any item of their choice, and thankfully the customer was very understanding.

  • What advice would you give a new business owner?

PLAN AHEAD. We cannot stress this enough. We planned for almost a year before our launch and still didn’t even feel like we were fully ready.

  • What’s your biggest mistake you may feel you have made since starting your company?

At the start of our journey, we didn’t always keep track of all our expenses which complicated things later on. Luckily, we’ve gotten much more organized.

  • If you consider yourself black-owned or a minority business, do you feel like you’ve been given the same opportunities as someone who is not considered black or a minority. I do not consider yourself black or minority. What experiences have you encountered dealing with opportunities given or not given to you, Or do you feel that all opportunities are the same? Why do you feel that way?

We personally don’t feel that we have been at any sort of disadvantage by being minorities. We feel that when it comes to our business, our success is fully based on our efforts as a team.

  • Give your future self some love

Keep striving to grow your business and better yourselves as kind human beings.

1. What inspired you to start your business?

In 2016 I was in an abusive relationship that nearly turned fatal. After getting out of that toxic situation, with years of healing, self reflection, building self confidence, gaining the education to help others I decided to create a business that helps our people heal.

2. How did you come up with your name and logo?

Since the word “mend” means to repair or fix something that has been damaged or broken and that requires time. Time2Mend

3. How do you advertise?

I use various social media platforms such as Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, & Pinterest to gain a wide range audience. I showcase my items in a way that’ll spark the flame they need to start healing.

4. Best-selling products or services?

Thus far the best-selling product is the Emotional Transparency Journal which is a journal designed to let your emotions become transparent. With it’s clear design you are able to journal how you feel instead of keeping things tucked away and hidden.

5. What’s your company’s goal?

My company’s goal is to inspire as many people in Our community to start their path’s towards healing and becoming a better version of themselves.

6. What makes your business unique?

I feel offering free resources that truly help you heal makes Time2Mend unique. Time2Mend isn’t here to sell you a dream, yet is here to provide you the tools you’ll need along the path of changing your life around.

7. Have you ever turned down a client? Why? How did it end? What did you learn?

In my line of work, I haven’t actually. Yet I have had someone unsubscribe from our mailing list, so I created a survey and sent it out asking if there were any changes to the emails that they would like to see with Time2Mend.

8. What advice would you give a new business owner?

Consistency is key. Be authentic and consistency. Don’t focus on the numbers and instead focus on your craft and the target audience that you know will benefit from your business.

9. What’s your biggest mistake you may feel you have made since starting your company?

Not factoring in the start up costs and trying to rush products onto the site versus taking the time to take professional styled product photos.

10. If you consider yourself black owned or a minority business do you feel like you’ve been given the same opportunities as someone who is not considered black or a minority. If do not consider yourself black or minority what experiences have you encountered dealing with opportunities given or not given to you Or do you feel that all opportunities are the same? Why do you feel that way?

Unfortunately being a Black owned business it isn’t treated as the others because with it being Black owned, others may expect discounted items, more free resources, or will enjoy the site but not purchase or share it because healing isn’t something that is promoted much in Our community. Yet I feel with the more time we express how much we need to heal as a people, true change can happen and I can see more people consider the movement of healing that Time2Mend has crafted.

11. Give your future self some love

“I dedicate Time2Mend towards healing Our people and am very grateful for how far I’ve come and how far I’ll prosper forward”

Small Business Interview

Health and Wealth

Hey everyone, welcome back; this week, I am starting a new series near my heart about small business owners. Being a small business owner myself, I understand the passion that goes into long nights and early mornings—working a regular 9-5 while packing orders, marketing, cleansing, and more. I send love to anyone chasing their dreams. Never give up! Never lose hope! Today we start with Michi, The owner of Cosmic Peach Co.

Stay safe, Stay Warm and Shop Small!

Business Name: Cosmic Peach Co.

Category: Jewelry, Metaphysical

Mission Statement: The handcrafted pendants I create helps those interested in manifesting positive  and desirable qualities by connecting them to a variety of stones so they can fulfill their emotional and metaphysical needs. My hope is that the pieces I create empowers others on their journey of healing, wellness, growth, and personal discovery while gaining knowledge about the world of precious stones.

What You Sell: Handcrafted stone pendants

Social Media: Twitter @cosmicpeachco ; Instagram @cosmicpeachco ; Facebook @cosmicpeachco

Contact: via any of my social media or via email at

  •   What inspired you to start your business?

I started crafting pendants in early 2019 however, my creative and entrepreneurial spirit was buzzing long before then. All my life I dabbled in the creative arts and business spirit, making keychains and necklaces from an early age. I even went as far as standing in a bank lobby on Fridays, selling candy bars on pay day to raise funds for my school. Turns out, I broke the school record and was rewarded with a free senior trip for my out of the box thinking.

I’ve been through a number of intense experiences in my life, but I was not able to truly start the healing process until I stumbled upon the metaphysical community and the various things it has to offer. However, it wasn’t until I started learning more about the different kinds of precious stones that I truly found my passion. I began collecting stones not only because they were beautiful and unique, but I was also drawn to the metaphysical properties found within them. Their importance to me existed not only for the purpose of meditation and self reflection, but also to beautify the space around me.

I began following more and more accounts within the metaphysical community and that’s when I was connected to people creating wire wrapped jewelry. It reignited that same interest and passion that I once had as a child to create something with my own hands and better yet, I could finally work with a variety of natural and beautiful stones that hold a special significance and meaning to me.

My business stemmed from a need to heal myself and in that process I found the inspiration to help others through the creation of my pendants. Throughout my journey, my focus has been to create simple yet elegant pieces, that can fit into both casual and more dressy settings. It is my goal for customers to be able to carry a piece of my passion that can be beautiful and meaningful in their day to day life. After all, the body is a temple so why not beautify that too?

  • How did you come up with your name and logo?

My business originally started as Michipeachiii, an online moniker and a mashup between my nickname, and a play on words for the phrase “Just peachy.” The new name Cosmic Peach Co, is a nod to where I’ve come from and a nod to where I hope to go; over the moon and into the stars with the support I’ve been receiving.

  • How do you advertise?

I advertise my products on different social media platforms.

  • Best-selling products or services?

My most popular pendants are those made with either labradorite or rose quartz.

  • What’s your company’s goal?

One goal as a company is to be able to properly identify and disclose if a stone is man-made in an attempt to maintain transparency with my customers. Another of our goals is to provide proper research on the metaphysical properties of stones, so that I can provide this information clearly and concisely to potential customers. I want my products to function as something both aesthetically pleasing while also fulfilling an emotional and spiritual need.

  • What makes your business unique?

I believe my business is unique for multiple reasons. One of these reasons is due to the amount of research that I put into finding out the different metaphysical properties of the stones that I acquire. Another reason I would consider my business unique is because of the attention to detail and spirit that I put into crafting my pendants. I take great pride in making sure that both sides of my pendants are “clean.” A “clean” pendant is a pendant that makes use of the wire in such a way that both the back and front sides of the stone are designed in a neat and presentable way.

  • Have you ever turned down a client? Why? How did it end? What did you learn?

  • What advice would you give a new business owner?

Planning is such an underestimated part of starting a business. You need to define what it is you want to do, how you’re going to do it, and what steps you plan on taking in order to get there. You need to research your costs, what platform you intend to use to sell your product, and what you’re required to do legally in your state as a business owner and know when you’re required to file taxes. It can be extremely overwhelming and confusing at times, but cities tend to have small business associations or other resources available for you, in order to make this process more understandable. It is better to have all your ducks in a row early rather than to be blinded sided down the road, and even worse, put yourself at risk for penalties.

  • What’s your biggest mistake you may feel you have made since starting your company?

My biggest mistakes was not doing proper bookkeeping. I was not being organized in terms of tracking money in and out or paying myself what I was owed. Thankfully it was a fixable mistake but it took over a day to do so. I now have a better tracking system for myself and haven’t had any issues since.

  • If you consider yourself black owned or a minority business do you feel like you’ve been given the same opportunities as someone who is not considered black or a minority. If you do not consider yourself black or minority what experiences have you encountered dealing with opportunities given or not given to you Or do you feel that all opportunities are the same? Why do you feel that way?

As an Afro-Latina I feel that I have to work so much harder to gain visibility within my field. Sometimes it feels as though people in the art community are more willing and eager to promote white artists and only think of minority artists during social movements or heritage months.

  • Give your future self some love

I am so proud of you, for your strength, your endurance, and for your sense of commitment. I hope that you keep creating the things you love and that you keep expanding your horizons when it comes to the things you can offer. I hope that your sense of ambition keeps burning and that you continue to chase your dreams and goals.

Oils all around

Health and Wealth

Hey, everyone! Welcome back for another post. Today, we are going to be talking about essential oils/carrier oils. From diffusers to mixing a number of other products, essential oils are used nationwide. Like herbs, always consult with a doctor before changing your diet or testing anything on ANY body part.

Essential oils:

A natural oil typically obtained by distillation and having the plant’s characteristic fragrance or other sources is extracted.

Before using a new essential, always do a test patch to test for any irritation or swelling.

 WHAT are carrier oils:

Carrier oils are naturally derived from vegetarian sources like the seeds, kernels, or nuts of plants. They have a neutral scent and dilute concentrated essential oils to be safely applied to the skin.

WHY use them:

Essential oils are harsh, which means they evaporate quickly and contain the plant’s natural scent and characteristics they’re derived from. This can make them too strong and result in skin irritation if applied undiluted. Carrier oils do not evaporate or have a strong scent, making them ideal for diluting essential oils, reducing the essential oil concentration without diminishing its properties. When you dilute an essential oil with a carrier oil, you can also control its attention before applying.

Jojoba Oil:
  • Slightly nutty aroma.
  • Medium consistency.
  • Superior, non-greasy absorption, similar to the skin’s natural oils.
  • Moisturizing for skin and hair.
  • Long shelf life.
  • Good for hair products

Sweet Almond Oil:

  • Has a slightly sweet, nutty aroma.
  • Medium consistency.
  • It absorbs relatively quickly; leaves a slight hint of oil on the skin.
  • Rich in vitamin E and oleic acid.

*Caution: May cause a reaction to those with nut allergies.*

Coconut Oil:

  • Unlike coconut oil, fractionated coconut oil is liquid at room temperature.
  • No noticeable aroma.
  • Absorbs well; leaves skin feeling silky and moisturized; non-greasy.
  • High in essential fatty acids.
  • Long shelf life.

Grapeseed Oil:

  • Light, thin consistency.
  • Well suited for massages, it leaves a light glossy film over the skin.
  • Moisturizes skin.
  • High in linoleic acid.
  • Relatively short shelf life.
  • Mostly used in hair and skin products.

Other carrier oils include shea butter, olive oil, and cocoa butter.

Carrier oils should typically be used within six months, but some oils can stay usable for up to one year. To maximize shelf life, store oils in their original air-tight containers in a cool, dark place.

Make your own DIY Hand Sanitizer

Health and Wealth

With Oahu under lockdown again, I have had a lot of time on my hands. I have been trying many recipes and DIY projects, and I can’t wait to share them with you all. Today we are going to be learning how to make Hand sanitizer.

Keep in mind, our first line of defense against viruses like COVID-19 is washing our hands!

Hand sanitizer is a useful tool that you should have with you when traveling or when you don’t have access to soap and water. :

  1. Wash your hand for 20 seconds. ( Sing happy birthday twice)
  2. Avoid touching face and eyes.
  3. Boost your immune system !!!
  4. Cough or sneeze into a tissue or your bent elbow. DO NOT cough into your hands. Dispose of the tissue and wash (or sanitize) your hands after.
  5. Wear a mask wear a mask wear a ******* mask
  6. Drink lots of water and eat lots of fruits and vegetables

Like my own business Humble Soul LLC, we have many unique tea blends, seamoss, immune-boosting shots. If you have a moment, check us out.

What is Hand Sanitizer?

Hand sanitizer is typically an alcohol-based liquid that contains isopropyl alcohol, ethanol, or n-propanol.

How does Hand Sanitizer work?

Alcohol-based hand sanitizers work by disrupting the virus or bacteria’s outer coat/cell membrane and killing the microbial cells. According to the CDC, for hand sanitizer to be effective, it must have a concentration of at least 60% alcohol.

The proper way to use hand sanitizer is to:

  1. Apply in the palm (enough to make your hands wet)
  2. Rub all over the surfaces of your hands and wrists until your hands are dry.
  3. Research shows a minimum application of rubbing for 30 seconds is required for effective disinfection.

Ingredients & Items Needed

  • Isopropyl alcohol (91% or 99%)
    • Found at pharmacies, online, grocery stores
  • Aloe vera gel
    • Found online, grocery, skin care, and beauty stores. Typically located near the sunscreen for treating sunburns.
  • Small squeeze container
    • Found at the dollar store, grocery and beauty stores (check out the travel sections)
    • Spatula
    • Small bowl or a 2-cup measuring glass

Your ratios should be 2:1, alcohol to aloe vera gel.

  1. Measure 2 tablespoons isopropyl alcohol (91% or 99%), add to bowl/measuring cup.
  2. Measure 1 tablespoon aloe vera gel, add to bowl/measuring cup
  3. Mix with a spatula
  4. Pour into the small/travel size plastic squeeze container.

OPTIONAL: add a couple of drops of essential oils known to have anti-microbial properties such as the essential oil of lemon balm, cinnamon, cloves, and tea tree.

Can I use pure alcohol and cut out the aloe?

No. Do not use only alcohol (isopropyl/ethanol) on your skin for sanitizing your hands; they are incredibly drying and will cause your skin to crack.

I have kids. Should I be applying hand sanitizer all the time?

Children raised in hyper-clean environments are actually less likely to be healthy in the long run. A 2009 study at Northwestern University reported that those raised in environments that stress the usage of sanitizing products are more likely to be healthy as children, but suffer from five to seven times lower levels of the inflammatory marker C-reactive protein as young adults. So, what does that mean? Chill out and let your kids serve up some delicious mud pies!

Are all hand sanitizers the same?

Nope. Definitely not. Hand sanitizers that are composed of 60% or more of ethyl or isopropyl alcohol content are far more effective than those that do not. It’s worth taking note of these percentages when purchasing hand sanitizer, since most sanitizing products that you come across at your local retailer are composed of a measly 40% ethyl or isopropyl alcohol content. Those that contain less than 60% might not affect the amount of germs proliferating on your hands at all.

Taking Care Of Yourself While Stuck In The House

Health and Wealth

Hey everyone, Welcome back!!! I had to take a little break because I was overworking. Since this whole pandemic, I have had a handful of meltdowns. I would have thought that being home so much would give me all this time, but in hindsight, it did not—the same 24 hours we had before we have now. I rebranded my business last year with such high hopes for 2020. This year has been nothing of what I thought. Now, almost done with August, December isn’t be too far. Anyone who owns a business knows the pressure you feel when you want to make it. Staying up until 4 am, missing phone calls, and being out the know. You isolate yourself even more because you are so focused. I was so consumed with the need to be perfect that I started to lose myself. I became overwhelmed and lost. I wasn’t sure what I was doing anymore or why I was even doing it. It was not until one day I woke up and realized the pattern. I have always been told you to stay in a pattern until you learn the lesson. Have you ever asked yourself some of these questions:

· Why do I attract these kinds of men and or women?

· Why do I date people who are not emotionally available?

· Why do bad things keep happening to me?

· Why am I always in the same issues?

These are just a few examples of “popular” patterns I always hear about. Now I am not saying I have any of these answers. But I believe this is your wake up call. What have you been ignoring? Those feelings still haven’t gone away. Solange sang it best. You can’t eat, sing, fuck, dance, or drink it away. You need to feel those feelings and find healthy outlets to express them from therapy to meditation, poetry, art, or even music. Find something that feeds your soul. One day a week, at least once a month, get 8 to 10 hours of sleep. Drink lots of water and set alarms; make sure you are listening to your body. Reconnect with the person you are becoming.

Some of my favorite ways to relax are 1. Turning off my phone and yes, you read that right. Turning off your phone/laptop for 24 hours is like taking off a mask. You aren’t checking every app every 5 seconds. You have time to focus like on anything else. 2. Taking a nice hot BATH!!! I love water Idk if it is because I am cancer, but whenever I am in the water, I feel at home. I add bath salts, soap, bay leaves, lavender, rosemary, and more. (Bath Salts Coming Soon) 3. Journaling or blogging. Writing out your feelings, then burning them is such a release literally. Letting go of old things and making space for new love, hope, and peace is a mood. 4. Venting. If you are anything like me, you are the “strong friend.” You feel like you can’t or shouldn’t vent to anyone. It’s like a sign of weakness. Being the “perfect friend.” I am here to encourage you to drop that way of thinking. Everyone needs someone. I know it is hard, and I know how you feel. It’s scary being vulnerable; of not knowing how they will react. But find someone who makes you feel safe. To anyone who knows a strong friend, please check on them. Reassure them that it’s okay to be vulnerable. Now only do that if you your self feel open to do so. You can’t fill a cup if you’re empty.

I encourage you to TAKE A BREAK when needed!
